How do you choose a photographer?
This is a question I often get asked. To be honest there are a few things to take into consideration:
- Do you like their work?
Make sure you look at their portfolio. Do you like their work? Would you hang it on your wall? Look for consistency across their portfolio – lighting, focus etc.
- Do you feel comfortable within them?
I always advise clients that the best way to get great photographs is to feel comfortable with the person who is behind the camera. If you are comfortable then your smiles are real and there is no stiffness in the way you hold yourself. If you aren’t comfortable then smiles may be harder to come by and you may hold yourself a little stiffer than you would like. You want to enjoy your session not be counting the minutes until it ends.
- Cost?
This is always a hard question. So many people say that professional photography is prohibitive: I truly understand that quandary – I have have two children of my own.
Talk to your photographer – at LoJo Photography we work with our clients to find the best outcome for them in doing this we offer payment plans such as take home lay-by. This enables you to pay off your images and still be able to take them home with you when they are ready. LoJo Photography understands that sometimes it is easier to find $60 per fortnight than $1,000 in one go.
- What do you want to do with your images?
Do you want to display your images for family and friends to see or do you want to keep your images locked away in a drawer on a USB – never to see the light of day.
At LoJo Photography we love it when our clients purchase images or albums – allowing them to share the joy they have in their photographs with their family and friends. That is why we offer our clients a number of options to enable them to display their images in a way that suits their family.
- Does the photographer have a clearance to work with children?
This is by no means a deal breaker but at LoJo Photography, Jill Dolby holds a Working with Children and Vulnerable Persons Clearance issued by the ACT Government. This, to the extent it can, ensures that you know that you are dealing with a person of good character.
At LoJo Photography, Canberra Newborn Photography, we pride ourselves on meeting the needs of our clients and providing them with images they will be proud to share with friends and family.
