What does it mean to be an AIPP Accredited Professional Photographer?

A number of you would have seen my post on Facebook the other day that I had passed my accreditation with the AIPP (Australian Institute of Professional Photography) and a few of you may have noticed the AIPP logo that now adorns the welcome page of my website.

What does this mean?

For the past two years I have been an emerging member of the AIPP and this year I undertook their Emerging Member Mentoring Program.  This meant that I have spent an amazing time with other emerging members and a wonderful locally based AIPP Accredited Professional Photographer.  We have talked about images, we have talked about how to build a successful small business, we have talked about pricing, we have talked about marketing….we have talked about anything and everything.  Part of the Mentoring Program is the ability at the end of the year, if your Mentor thinks you’re ready, to apply to become an AIPP Accredited Professional Photographer.

This is not just the process of submitting an application.  To become an AIPP Accredited Professional Photographer I had to submit a portfolio of 20 images (no two images could be of the same person or subject) and these images were then passed to three independent AIPP Accredited Professionals for review.  To say this is a nerve-wracking process is to put it lightly. What comes back is an overall critique from the 3 independent assessors plus individual comments on the images and each image is marked as a pass or fail.  The day I got my email to say I had passed this process was one of the happiest days of my life (if you don’t count my wedding or the birth of my children).

So what does it mean to you, the client, that I am an AIPP Accredited Professional Photographer?

It means that when you book LoJo Photography you book:

  • Someone who is skilled to capture those moments
  • Someone who is trained, educated and skilled in photography
  • Someone who understands what customer service means
  • Someone who is committed to meeting a standard set by a leading professional body.

I am proud to call myself an AIPP Accredited Professional Photographer.
