Booking your session
The first thing is to decide on a session time that will suit you and your family. Try to choose a session when you believe your child/ren will be at his/her/their most comfortable (i.e. not around a meal or nap time).
For newborn sessions I usually suggest a session mid-morning. I only book one session on any day when I am photographing a newborn so there is no need to worry if your little one needs to feed or takes a little while to sleep.
Preparing for your session
Prior to your session I will send you a questionnaire. These questions let me know who will be at your session, any themes you may have in mind for your session (including props for newborn sessions). I also ask you to think about what you want from your session – do you want framed photos, canvas etc?
You may also want to turn your mind to what to wear to your session. As a starting point I have included a little bit on “what to wear” in the drop down menu (‘For Clients’ above).
I also provide you with a Preparation Guide for your newborn session.
Session experience
To get the most out of your session please make sure that your child/ren are not hungry or tired when the session begins. It is important to let your child just be themselves – you don’t need to direct them or ask them to smile or look in a particular direction. Sometimes it is better for you to hang back and let me interact with and get to know your children.
It is very important to remember that children have minds of their own. Most children, especially toddlers, do not take directions to pose a certain way. Almost all of the photos you see on my website were captured candidly. Please do not expect me to recreate a picture you have seen on
my website as each session is unique to each family I capture. The natural moments are the best moments.
Typical family portrait sessions usually last 60 minutes. Newborn sessions can last up to 3 hours.
Post-session
In the weeks following your session I will review the images taken at your session and prepare your gallery images for you to review at your Gallery Reveal.
Gallery Reveal
Your gallery reveal will be held in your home once your gallery images have been prepared. Gallery reveals take approximately 30 minutes to an hour to complete.
At your reveal you will be presented with your images printed at 8×10″ and matted to 11×14″ presented in a beautiful box. You then choose the images you want to purchase from your session and make decisions about any enlargements, frames or canvas you want.
Post Gallery Reveal
Following your gallery reveal I will order any enlargements, framed prints or canvas and prepare a USB which will incorporate the images you have chosen.
Delivery
Once your enlargements or framed prints or canvas have arrived I will contact you to arrange a time to deliver your beautiful printed photos and your USB.
